A small youth team from Spring Street International School (SSIS) went to the WA. State Prevention Summit in October 2011. The SJIPC was their sponsor. The theme was DREAM it, LEAD it and ACHIEVE it! On the car ride home, Rock Solid was created. A group for youth by youth, to stay drug-free and have fun activities to keep them busy and bust the boredom factor!
Rock Solid is open to all youth, we just ask that you take a pledge to yourself and your friends to make healthy choices.We also want to be a support to each other, someone we can call on, if things get tough. 2012 – Rock Solid at the WA. State Prevention Summit in Yakima. Our team learns new skills, gains more confidence, develops strategies for bringing prevention issues to their schools and communities. Watch for some very exciting things to come from this group:)
Rock Solid continues to engage in their community for various prevention projects through the years on Distracted Driving, Underage Marijuana Use and Underage Drinking. Some of these projects include speaking with local officials to help bring a voice to the issue from a youth’s perspective.
2016- WA State Prevention Summit in Yakima. Youth leadership workshops and breakout sessions give students more confidence and sharpen their skills for listening, learning and leading… H.O.T.S. Jr members join together to double their prevention efforts!
