We are so pleased with the outcome of this drug education program! Our presenter, Colleen Williams, PMHRNP, talks real with the students about the health behaviors they choose and their consequences on their body.
To illustrate her point, Colleen travels with these human organs that tell a story. The students also get a chance to see up close and personal the damaging effects on the organs from alcohol and drug use. Using healthy organs to compare with these damaged organs from unhealthy choices these organ donors made, she tells the youth, you have the power to decide how you will live. It’s your body!
We thank our sponsors for giving generously to make this day possible. Thank you San Juan Island Prevention Coalition, Rock Solid, Islanders Bank, Sweet Retreat, The Mullis Family and the Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church for use of their space. We invited FHES, FHMS, FHHS and Spring Street Schools to 90 minute presentations. Grades 6th-9th came from the public schools and all grade levels from SSIS attended.
