Rock Solid Zooming into our Coalition meetings at the Local and Regional levels!

Congrats to these young leaders who are sharing their time and talents with our community as well as with our Regional Prevention Partners by presenting their various wellness workshops via Zoom! Our Rock Solid Youth have been mentoring the middle school prevention team, HOTS Jr, too and we are so proud of the efforts being led by our youth in both of these clubs in these uncertain times! The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) will hold webinars. The webinar will feature information about COVID-19 and other behavioral health topics. Presentations will include representatives from state agencies, community service providers, and the community.

Rock Solid Peer 2 Peer Educators Zoom into the Classroom!

Rock Solid Youth Prevention Team is paying it forward by offering three different workshops in the FHMS Health and Careers classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders during these times of physical distancing which doesn’t mean we have to be social distancing!

Utilizing their training with Peer 2 Peer, Rock Solid President Luke Fincher, Ramona, and Clarence have put 50 hours of practice to offer these various topics including Social Norms, Healthy Youth Survey Data, Media Literacy, Marijuana Facts Game with YouCanWa.org, Coping Skills, Building Resilience, Science of Hope and the Power of the Positive!

Ending each workshop with a Youth Panel, where students can ask all kinds of questions about high school and choosing health! It’s an opportunity to connect and share:) Well done Rock Solid! We appreciate your continued leadership to build community and connections.

Family Support During COVID-19

As school buildings remain closed through the remainder of the academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, parents and caregivers may be feeling worried, anxious, and uncertain about how to support their families. Parents and caregivers are critical in supporting the health and resiliency of the children in their lives.
The Washington Healthy Youth (WHY) Coalition is providing up-to-date resources, including articles about talking to youth about the COVID-19 pandemic, links to virtual parenting sessions and seminars, and ideas for keeping youth busy and engaged while staying at home.
