Board of Trustees Meeting & Resilience screening

This past Friday, March 8, 2019, about 35 community members and SJIPC board members came together to screen, Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope. Our aim is to learn together more about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) science, trauma and resilience, with the intent to build capacity in a comprehensive community response system.

We are grateful to those that were able to join us in this important conversation and how they might be able to implement this in their family, work place or in the community.

Want to have a screening of Resilience with your circle of influence? Contact us for more details at 360-370-7516.

Next Board of Trustees Meeting, Friday, April 26, 2019. Check out our website: sjipc.org

Vaping and Teens

A threat to teen health:
“Doctors are concerned there’s a misconception among teens that e-cigarettes are safe. Smoking e-cigarettes actually deliver cancer-causing chemicals that get into the body — and popular fruity flavors appear to be the worst, researchers reported in March.”

CDC image showing the usage rates of e-cigarettes among youth in the U.S. 4.9% of middle school students, 20.8% of high school students, and in 2018 more than 3.6 million students reported using an e-cigarette in the past 30 days.

Suicide Prevention Efforts at FHHS and FHMS by Rock Solid & HOTS Jr Teams

It can be a hectic time of year, so before school let’s out for the holiday break some of our youth prevention team members organized a kind gesture by leaving a lovely note with a Suicide Prevention wallet sized card and a candy cane on everyone’s locker. It’s a gentle reminder that resources are available 24/7. Good work Rock Solid and HOTS Jr!
