06/19/2014: “Continuing Drug Problems In The County”

The Sheriff’s office reports a used hypodermic syringe was found at Sunken Park in Friday Harbor. A report of the syringe was made on Thursday to the Sheriff’s office. The syringe was removed and safely disposed of by the responding deputy.
Sheriff Nou made the following statement in a press release: “Any used syringe poses a potential health risk and bio hazard to anyone not properly handling it.

The Town, members of the community and the Sheriff’s Office have worked hard to make Sunken Park a family friendly, safe environment in town. Drug use in any park will absolutely not be tolerated. With summer beginning, our parks and public spaces must be safe for residents and visitors to enjoy.

The deputies are making regular checks in efforts to deter and address issues in the parks. Work with us by reporting suspicious and illegal activities. Our parks and public spaces are for all to enjoy. Let’s continue to work together to keep them safe.”
